President Jonathan Blasts PDP Defectors

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday blasted PDP members defecting to other parties, notably the All Progressive Congress (APC) predicting that those decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to other parties will return with empty stomach.

He made the remark while receiving the PDP campaign report from its Director General, Ahmadu Ali at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Stressing that PDP is the dominant party despite the loss of the Presidential election, he said that the party will remain strong in subsequent elections if members are committed and hard working.

The Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih noted that the party did not win the presidential election but won peace for the country.

He said: “We didn’t win the elections but we have a leader who made us to win peace. Without peace there cannot be development.”
“There is a lot to be done. We need a very strong and vibrant party to be put in place now. I believe we are on the right path. Let us put behind us those who have betrayed the party and move forward.”

The Chairman of the party, Adamu Muazu was conspicuously absent at the event.

8 Proven Methods to Promote Old Posts in WordPress

Want to increase your website traffic? One of the easiest and smartest method to get more pageviews is to promote your old evergreen articles. In this article, we will show you some of the best ways to promote old posts in WordPress.

But before we start, let’s take a look at why it’s important to promote old posts.
You see most people write a blog post, share it once or twice, and then leave it to die in their blog’s archive page.

Why let all your time, money, and efforts go to waste? Promoting older relevant articles allow you to maximize your traffic potential. Here are 8 proven methods to promote old posts in WordPress.

1. Regularly Share Your Old Posts on Social Media

Most of your social media updates are seen by a fraction of your followers. Mainly because there is so much noise and not everyone is online at the same time.

That’s why it is recommended to share at various different times of the day. The Revive Old Post plugin automatically shares your old posts on social media networks like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. It spreads out your updates for different times allowing you to maximize your exposure.

2. Showcase Related Posts on Your Blog

When you visit popular blogs like TechCrunch, Mashable, or even WPBeginner, you will notice that their is related content next to or below each article.

If a user has scrolled down to read your entire article, then they are engaged. Using a related posts plugin, you can provide them an opportunity to explore more of your website.

3. Display Your Popular Posts

It’s true that 20% of your website content gets 80% of your traffic. Some articles are simply more popular than others.

Why not get more traffic to them? You can start showcasing your most popular content with a few simple clicks. People coming to your website are more likely to read what many other users have already found interesting.

4. Create Better 404 Pages

Most WordPress themes come with a default 404 page template. A 404 page is displayed when a page that the user is looking for cannot be found.

You can use this opportunity to showcase the most important content of your website, and keep that visitor engaged. You can also add a search form on the page, so that users can locate the content they were looking for.

5. Better WordPress Search

The default search feature in WordPress is fairly limiting, but you can improve the search feature. There are two common approaches for that.

The first one is to use Google Custom Search form to replace the WordPress search. The other method is to use a search plugin like SearchWP.

Both of these solutions will help improve your WordPress search.

6. Custom Archive Pages

Creating a custom archive page is one of the best way to highlight your old but still useful content.
You can show the most popular articles, most commented posts, recent posts, and so on. You can even display all your post categories / tags, add compact archives, and include a search form. This will help people not only in finding content, but will also help them understand what your blog is about. Don’t forget to add an email sign up form on the page.

7. Interlink Old Articles

Building internal links is one of the most important SEO strategy. You need to make internal linking a habit.
It’s helpful to the user when you link to your old posts whenever it is relevant. People browse the web by clicking on one link to another. Make sure that there are plenty of your own links for them to click on.

8. Link Old Articles in Comments

When answering user comments on your own blog, you should try to use links to point them to other articles on your own website.

It’s not something you should force, rather it’s important to keep it in the back of your mind, and you will be surprised how many opportunities will come up.

This builds trust and increases your pageviews. This link you add is going to stay there and any future visitors with the same question will continue to click on that link.

Four Nigerians, others executed in Indonesia for drug offences

Indonesian authorities last night executed eight people, including four Nigerians, convicted for drug offenses.
They were killed by firing squad on Tuesday.

However, execution of a woman Filipino was postponed at the last minute.

The Fillipino was spared after a woman accused of tricking her into carrying drug, turned herself to the police in Philippines Tuesday.

The four Nigerians included Martins Anderson, 50, who was charged with possession of heroin, and Okwudili Oyatanze, 41, also charged for smuggling heroin.

Jamiu Abashin, 50, was also executed for smuggling heroin, while Sylvester Nwolise, 42, was also executed for the same offence.

Other convicts who were executed were 34-year-old Australian, Myruan Sukumaran, 31 year-old Australian, Andrew Chan, charged for smuggling heroin, and 41 year-old Brazilian, Rodrigo Gularte, 42, who was convicted for smuggling cocaine.

Also executed was Zainal Abidin, a 50-year-old Indonesian, who was convicted for marijuana possession with intent to distribute.

Nepal earthquake: Relief starts reaching remote villages

Aid has begun to reach remote regions near the epicentre of Saturday's devastating earthquake in Nepal.
As relief efforts continue in the Kathmandu Valley, the UN says the response is broadening to include areas such as Dhading and Gorkha.

The 7.8-magnitude quake killed more than 5,000 people. Many survivors are in desperate need of food and water.

Thousands of people are queuing to board buses and leave the capital, amid fears of further aftershocks.
The government is providing free transport for Kathmandu residents. School buses have been sent to supplement overstretched services.

"We are scared of the epidemics that may spread because of all those dead bodies," a man waiting at the main bus station told the BBC. "Just to be safe, I'm leaving town for a while."
Early on Wednesday police at the station scuffled with people trying to get on to crowded buses.

Thousands of people are desperate to leave Kathmandu

At the scene: Sanjoy Majumder, BBC News, Kathmandu

There's a rush to get out of Kathmandu. Thousands of people are trying to flee - some trying to head out to the remote districts to see how their families are, others including tourists trying to head towards India by road.

But there simply aren't enough buses to take them out and the highways are choked with vehicles, people and relief convoys. Tempers are flaring. The police came to the bus station to restrain those trying to board crowded buses, which made it worse.

Outside Kathmandu airport, there are lines of tourists trying their best to get a ticket to fly home. The airlines have laid on extra flights but it's not enough and also, the airport is finding it hard to cope with the additional rush as well as the influx of cargo aircraft bringing in relief material.

Overwhelmed

Rescue operations resumed on Wednesday following bad weather.

Bella Messenger, an NGO worker in a remote part of Gorkha district, told the BBC that Chinese lorries had brought aid to the area, but many people remained cut off.

"You can't get to some villages without a helicopter," she said. "Some villages you can get to with a two-hour hike."

Some villages have been almost totally destroyed. There are accounts of desperate residents rushing towards relief helicopters begging to be airlifted.

"We haven't had any food here since the earthquake," Sita Gurung, whose home in Gorkha was destroyed, told AFP news agency. "We don't have anything left here."

More than eight million people have been affected by the quake, the UN says. About 10,000 people have been injured.

Hundreds of thousands of people continue to live in temporary camps, in squalid conditions with very little food and water, says the BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Kathmandu.

Anger and frustration have been mounting, with many people sleeping out in the open for a fourth night.

North Korea 'executed 15 people'

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has ordered the execution of 15 people this year, including several top officials, South Korean intelligence says.

The agency told a parliamentary meeting on Wednesday that they were executed by firing squad on spying charges.

Those killed include two vice ministers who challenged Mr Kim over his policies and members of an orchestra, intelligence officials said.

Mr Kim purged and executed his once-powerful uncle for treachery in 2013.

'Showcase'

South Korean politicians were told that one of the officials killed was a forestry minister who had complained about North Korea's forestation plan, Yonhap news agency reported.

"Excuses or reasoning doesn't work for Kim Jong-un, and his style of rule is to push through everything," said Shin Kyung-min, a member of South Korea's parliamentary intelligence committee, quoting an intelligence official.

Analysis: Stephen Evans, BBC News, Seoul

From outside Pyongyang, it's impossible to know exactly what's going on in Kim Jong-un's inner circle.
The South Korean spy agency may have informants but it also relies on hit-or-miss methods like analysing photographs in the North Korean state-controlled media.

We do know that Mr Kim's uncle, Chang Song-thaek, was executed in 2013 because North Korean media reported it.

Last year, six important officials suddenly vanished from public view and South Korean media reported they had been executed.

If it is true that 15 senior people have been executed in the four months of this year - a rate of one a week - it would indicate that the regime is getting tougher.

Kim Jong-un has been in power for just over three years. He is as secure in his job as any dictator can be, but does he feel secure?

Mr Shin's office told Reuters news agency that the unnamed official had added that the executions were a "showcase" in response to what Mr Kim saw as a challenge to his authority.

Four members of North Korea's Unhasu Orchestra are also believed to have been executed in March.
Reports say that Mr Kim's wife, Ri Sol-ju was a singer in the orchestra before her marriage.

South Korean politician Lee Cheol-woo told Yonhap that the head of the orchestra had been executed, possibly for leaking family secrets.

There has been no confirmation from North Korea about the executions but Mr Kim has purged his opponents before.

In 2013, Mr Kim put his uncle, Chang Song-thaek, to death, along with a group of officials who had been close to him.

Mr Chang was seen as a mentor to Kim Jong-un during the leadership transition from his father Kim Jong-il in 2011.

Amaechi Dismisses the Purpoted Ministerial List

River state governor shed light on the situation as he spoke with journalists upon arriving at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Daily Post reports.

The clarification became necessary after the speculations about the new cabinet had deepened.
Amaechi insisted that no decision had been reached regarding the zoning of offices in the FEC. He added that the party elders were yet considering the issue with the aim to find the best solution for Nigerians.

“There is only one meeting the party has held as it concerns zoning of offices and we have said the elders should go and zone the offices. The elders are yet to return to the party so those things you people are doing are speculations.”

Governor Amaechi also reiterated the APC’s commitment to the policy of transparency:

“We don’t have a choice. If you want to serve in a government then you have to abide by the rules. And the person that wants to run the government has said that anyone who wants to serve must publicly declare his asset.”

One of the latest insinuations on the matter was that Muhammadu Buhari, the president-elect, and Bola Tinubu, the APC national leader, were set to clash over Buhari’s insistemce on having Governor Babatunde Fashola as the Lagos state ministerial nominee in his cabinet.

Asari Dokubo Threatens To Deal With Buhari
Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, for the umpteenth time, has threatened to deal with Mohammadu Buhari if the president-elect chooses to imbibe a Pharaoh like regime when he assumes office on May 29.

The ex-warlord also dismissed fears that Buhari could send any one to jail, saying the president-elect does not have the power to imprison anybody.

Dokubo, who was taking a swipe at a Buhari supporter, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, on his Facebook page, made reference to a biblical allusion when he threatened to deal with Buhari in a Moses like manner if Buhari  adopts a Pharaoh like regime.

He said: Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim your Buhari does not have that power to send any body to prison….get that into your piggy skull and nobody is afraid of him….We are waiting for him….following the example of GEAJ does not make us cowards….If he Buhari wants to be a Pharaoh….then he will find a Moses in me.

This is not the first time Asari Dokubo will be uttering such threatening statement, following the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election, Dokubo said he and other militants may be forced to return to the creeks.

The ex-militant had also in January said he and his colleagues would wreak havoc if Jonathan lost the election.

While Asari Dokubo has maintained a defiant disposition towards Buhari, other ex-militants have promised to cooperate with the incoming administration.

They have however pleaded with Buhari not to discontinue the amnesty programme of the Federal government, saying their support for him depends on the sustainability of the programme.

Interesting Facts About Incoming Members Of Senate

Sixteen former governors will join Nigeria’s 8th senate. Some of them are still incumbent governors, others ex-governors already and some are even returnee senators.

During the 2015 elections, only senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were voted into power. The next Senate will also be men-dominated as only eight out of the 109 members are going to be females in the Chamber of the National Assembly.

Sixty of the senators have been elected on the APC platform while the PDP has got only 49 elected members.

Three of the eight female-senators are of the APC: Oluremi Tinubu, who is a ranking member of the Red Chamber from the Lagos Central Senatorial District; the incumbent Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Alhaja Monsurat Sunmonu; and Binta Masi Garba from Adamawa North.

The five other women are from the PDP. They will be joining the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly afresh. Anambra and Ekiti states produced two each and the other is from Cross River state.

From Anambra are: House of Representatives member Uche Ekwunife (Central) and the former aviation minister Stella Oduah. The two elected Senators from Ekiti are Abiodun Olujimi (South), who was Governor Ayodele Fayose’s deputy from 2003 to October 16, 2006, when they were impeached by 24 of the 26-members of the House of Assembly, and Fatima Raji-Rasaki (Central), a House of Representatives member between 2003 and 2007. Fatima is the wife of the former military administrator of Oyo and Lagos states, Brig-Gen. Raji Rasaki (rtd).

Top 12 Corruption Cases In Nigeria: Revisited
Editor’s note: Over the last four years, there have been several alarming and scandalous cases of corruption in Nigeria. Some perpetrators have been taken to court, some cases were never even investigated as many of the cases remain unsolved.

Story highlights:
– It is believed that Alhaji Maina misappropriated billions of naira worth of pension funds.

– Nigeria’s parliament has discussed a report said to reveal that $6bn (£4bn) has been defrauded from the fuel subsidy fund in the past two years.

– The government had charged Abacha to court on nine counts of stealing against Mohammed in February 2014.

(Nigerian Eye) – This is a list of the Top 12 corruption cases of the last four years. Here’s hoping this will be a wake up call for the EFCC to take action.

1. N195 Billion Maina Pension Scam
It is believed that Alhaji Maina misappropriated billions of naira worth of pension funds, which he claimed to have recovered from pension thieves. The senate committee probing pension funds management accused him of mopping up pension funds from banks and depositing the money in his private accounts. According to the committee, this mopping of such funds had made it impossible to pay thousands of pensioners across the country for months. When he was summoned to appear and clear the air on the committee’s findings, Alhaji Maina instituted a N1.5bn case against the senate and the inspector general of police. Things came to a head last week when the senate passed a resolution asking the presidency to sack Alhaji Maina within two days or face its wrath. Although the presidency had initially insisted that only the head of service could sack Maina, it subsequently changed its tone and ordered that disciplinary action should be taken against him for absconding from his duty post without permission.

Punishment: None fled Nigeria.

2. Kerosene Subsidy Scam
The Former Governor of the Central bank and Now Emir of Kano Mr Sanusi had shown that the kerosene subsidy was eliminated in 2009 by a directive of the late president Umaru Yar’Adua. Further evidence, in the form of official data from across Nigeria, shows that nowhere in the country is kerosene sold at a subsidised rate. It is bought by the NNPC at N150, sold to marketers at N40-N50, but retails at N170-N250. Mr Sanusi estimates that $100m goes astray this way each month.

“The margin of 300-500 per cent over purchase price is economic rent, which never got to the man on the street. In dollar terms every vessel of kerosene imported by NNPC with federation money cost about $30m and it was sold at $10 or $11m generating rent of $20m per vessel to the syndicate,” he writes.
It was learnt that since the national assembly members concluded their investigations, no officials of the NNPC or the marketers have been sanctioned, thus emboldening them to continue to import kerosene and allocate to themselves and their cronies.

Apparently due to alleged pecuniary benefits, the NNPC has continued to import kerosene and allocate in questionable circumstances to individuals and groups at the ex-depot price of N40.90.

But rather than selling the product at the subsidised price of N50 per litre at filling stations, the beneficiaries of these allocations sell the product to middlemen at N95 or N100 per litre at the gates of the depots.
These middlemen, it was learnt, truck the product to the filling stations and sell between N130 and N150 per litre.

It was alleged that marketers give some of their allocations to some top PPMC officials to ensure that they turn blind eye to the scam.

The failure of the NNPC to implement a presidential directive removing subsidy from kerosene has fuelled suspicion among the stakeholders.

Punishment: None.

3. $6bn Fuel Subsidy Scam
Nigeria’s parliament has discussed a report said to reveal that $6bn (£4bn) has been defrauded from the fuel subsidy fund in the past two years.

The debate, which was televised live, made official findings that have been widely leaked in recent days.
The fuel sector probe was set up in the wake of angry nationwide protests in January after the government tried to remove a fuel subsidy.

Nigeria is a major oil producer but has to import most of its fuel.
Notable members of the PDP or their families were involved in the scam like Mamman Ali and Mahmud Tukur.

Punishment: Ongoing court cases, no convictions. House of reps report tainted by Farouk Lawan bribery setup.

4. 123bn Naira Fraud – Stephen Oronsaye
A damning report by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation has indicted a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Stephen Oronsaye, over an alleged N123billion fraud perpetrated during his tenure, between 2009 and 2010.

The 169-page report, entitled “Special Audit of the Accounts of the Civil Pensions,” according to an online news medium, Premium Times, found Oronsaye guilty of allegedly presiding over the looting of the nation’s resources during his tenure.

The audit by the auditor-general arose from the work of a Special Audit Team constituted by the federal government in May 2011 to conduct a comprehensive examination of the accounts of the Civilian Pension Department domiciled in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The audit, which covered the period 2005 to 2010, uncovered monumental financial irregularities, opaque transactions, irregular and abnormal running costs, and outright stealing and kick backs said to have reached its zenith during the 18 months that Oronsaye served as Head of Service.

But no action has been taken to bring all those indicted to book.

Punishment: No action taken.

5. Police Pension Fund Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the ex-permanent secretary in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, now a director in the Police Pension Office, Atiku Abubakar Kigo; the chief accountant, Mrs. Uzoma Cyril Attang, and four others before an Abuja high court on an 18-count charge of conspiracy, breach of trust and embezzlement of N32.8 billion police pension funds.

The six accused persons were docked before Justice Hussain Baba to whom the case was reassigned following a controversial judgement of the first trial judge, Justice Abubakar Talba: he gave a light sentence to one of the accused, John Yusuf, who pleaded guilty to a three-count charge.

But Attang, who was arraigned by the EFCC for the first time in connection with the alleged fraud, was granted N10million bail and two sureties in like sum.

Those who were re-arraigned include Esai Dangabar, Atiku Abubakar Kigo, Ahmed Inuwa Wada, Mrs Veronica Ulonma Onyegbula, Sani Habila Zira, Christian Madubuike, and John Yusuf who had been convicted.

Punishment: accused got a two years sentence or 750,000 fine. Paid 750,000.

6. Stella Oduah car purchase scandal
The committee set up by President Goodluck Jonathan to probe the N255m bulletproof car scandal in the aviation ministry has indicted the Minister, Ms. Stella Oduah.

It was gathered in Abuja that the report of the presidential committee tallied with some findings of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation on the scandal.

In October, there were reports that with the approval of the minister, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority purchased two bulletproof BMW cars at an allegedly inflated rate of N255m.

The development sparked a countrywide controversy with many Nigerians and groups calling for her sacking.

Punishment: None.

7. NNPC missing $20billion naira
Even in a country where untold oil wealth disappears into the pockets of the elite, the oil corruption scheme he was investigating seemed outsize — and he threatened to lay it bare at a meeting with Nigeria’s top bankers.

The whistleblower was none other than the governor of the country’s central bank. Weeks later, however, he was out, fired by Nigeria’s president in an episode that has shaken the Nigerian economy, filled newspapers and airwaves here, and even inspired a rare street demonstration.

The bankers were going to have to open their books, the governor, Lamido Sanusi, warned them at the recent meeting. He wanted to see where the money was going — $20 billion from oil sales that, mysteriously, was not making its way to the treasury, in a country that could soon be declared Africa’s biggest economy and already attracts the most direct foreign investment on the continent, according to the United Nations.

Punishment: Whistle blower was fired. The FG ordered an Audit of the NNPC. Audit report later indicts NNPC, corporation to refund $1.48billion

8. $15 million in Private Jet Arms Scandal

A private jet that conveyed $9.3 million cash from Nigeria to South Africa for an alleged arms deal between the two countries, had Nigerian crew members, and passengers from Israel and Austria.

Punishment: government claims involvement in scandal. No further explanations to individuals on board. Blames US for black market arms deal.

9. Crude Oil Theft Scandal
According to President Goodluck Jonathan, 300,000-400,000 barrels of oil per day, or more than 10% of all Nigeria’s production, is being lost at a cost to the state and oil companies of around £1bn a month – more than is spent on education and the health of the nation’s 168 million people. Not only is Nigerian oil theft helping to keep the world price of oil high, it is causing corruption and social disorder, says the president.

Punishment: None,  ex militant given contract worth billions to secure waterways. Rather than a decrease in oil theft, a marked increase is seen.

10. Ekiti Gate
The audio recordings depict the meeting as being attended by the eventual “winner” of the election, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti; Senator Iyiola Omisore; a man identified as Honorable Abdulkareem; the Minister for Police Affairs Caleb Olubolade; and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro who was at the time the Minister of State for Defence. Mr. Chris Uba came to Ekiti with huge stash of cash and soldiers from the East to carry out the assignment.

The 37-minute recording details the conversation between these men as they bribed Brigadier General Momoh with a promotion for his assistance in carrying out election fraud in Ekiti. In it, Obanikoro is clearly heard informing the group of men, “[I] am not here for a tea party, am on special assignment by the President.”

SaharaReporters further received credible intelligence that President Goodluck Jonathan had instructed the Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh, to use the army in arresting and intimidating opposition politicians before and during the election. The audio recording provides exact details of the plot, with the collaborators almost degenerating into physical combat.

11. Mohammed Abacha N446 Billion case
The government had Charged Abacha to court on nine counts of stealing against Mohammed in February 2014.

It had accused him of unlawfully receiving about N446.3bn allegedly stolen from its coffers between 1995 and 1998.

But on Wednesday, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke, asked Justice Mamman Kolo of the FCT High Court to strike out the charges on the grounds of “fresh facts” that just emerged concerning the case.

He was silent on whether new charges would be filed against Mohammed or not.
Efforts to arraign Mohammed on two previous occasions were unsuccessful because of his repeated absence from court.

But he was present in court on Wednesday when a private prosecuting counsel, Daniel Enwelum, informed the court of Adoke’s instruction to discontinue the case.

Applying to court for the withdrawal of the case, Enwelum said, “I have been instructed by the AGF and Minister of Justice to withdraw the charges as presently filed before this court, because there are fresh facts and documents available to him.

Punishment: None.

12. N7Billion Bribe to Christian Religious Leaders

On the 4th of February, The Director-General, Buhari Presidential Campaign organisation, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, accused some church leaders of taking N7 billion in bribes from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to campaign against the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

Governor Amaechi, at the APC’s governorship campaign rally, in Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State, said already, the religious leaders were allegedly distributing leaflets all over that Buhari had plans to Islamize the country if elected.

Amaechi called on the pastors to return the alleged bribe collected from the PDP.
By the 19th of February, A Borno-based Pastor, Kallamu Musa-Dikwa, said that the money that was given to pastors by the President was actually N7bn and not N6bn as alleged by Amaechi.
The PDP has since denied this.

5 Affiliate Marketing Strategies That Drives More Sales For You: Konga Commission!

I have outlined some great affiliate marketing strategies/tips you can use to drive more sales and increase your commission/earnings on the affiliate program.

1. Cloak Affiliate links

First things first, avoid those ugly affiliate links by using a link cloaker. It’s the best way to make your affiliate link decent and short and at the same time increase your click through rate. To make things easy, we have a feature on the platform called DirectLink that allows you register your website and then be able to link to any product on
konga.com site without adding your unique ID, This way we will still be able to track your sale otherwise your can also use the link cloaking feature and make your website look smarter

2. Write Reviews

Writing reviews is another working strategy and in my opinion I think it’s the best affiliate marketing tip. Here you’re talking about a product on just one page and this will give your readers more insight on the product you’re reviewing. If you really want to get the best out of reviews then you must mentions the features of the products you’re promoting (pros and cons), another way is to also compare your products with competitors as it’ll convince your readers into buying the product you’re promoting.

Getting the best out of Reviews
Don’t let the chronological order of your blog drown your reviews in the oceans of your archive instead you can use these little tips to make your reviews visible to your visitors

Creating a special category for reviews is the first thing you must consider. Use a rating plugin to rate the product you’re reviewing, the number of stars determines the quality of the product. If you own a website hosted with WordPress, there are few plugins that does this magic such as Author hReview, This can be configured to display recent reviews on sidebar. The more visible your reviews (and affiliate links in general) the higher the chance of making more sales.

3. Use Affiliate Links on your Post

I know it’s a no-brainer but I still have to include it for formality sake and to waste some white space too :). Instead of using direct links on products you’re recommending, try as much as possible to use affiliate links no matter how small the commission is. In fact selling a product of #5000 naira is easier than selling a product of #100,000 naira. The price of a product doesn't actually matter, if you've used a product, you can recommend it to your readers regardless of how cheap or expensive it is, it all depends on the quality of the product you’re promoting. Try to cultivate the habit of blending affiliate links in your blog post and don’t depend on reviews only.

4. Email Marketing

The money is in the list, that’s a very common saying and I’m sure you know that. Are you building your list the right way? The best way to do this is to use optin forms around your blog and bait your visitors with an offer they can’t afford to bite. One thing I noticed about email marketing is that if you promote affiliate product, you’ll make some sales followed by a high rate of unsubscribers (5% – 10% or more). Don’t use your list as money making machine by bombarding your subscribers with products but minimize the interval and build your subscriber’s trust first by giving them tips, send them your new blog updates & giveaways and so on.

5. Make Use of Banners

Another advantage is making use of banners on your blog, it could be your sidebar, footer, above your content or header. You can get the banners of affiliate products in the dashboard and implement the code (a one time code) on your blog. Do you know that banners do get the highest click through rate than other tips mentioned above? This is due to its attractive pictures and descriptions and it works more if those pictures keeps changing with interesting offers.
Get the one time banner code here.

CBN orders banks to publish lists of debtors from May 1

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ordered banks to publish lists of individuals and companies with non-performing loans.
The regulatory bank said this is to curb a rise in bad debt as the industry stumbles amid low oil prices.
The development is causing palpable tension in the banking industry, DAILY POST has learnt.
A mid-level staff in one of the banks told our correspondent that since word of the directive leaked and eventual announcement, a number of companies and individuals have reached out to his bank’s management.
“They are pleading that we cover their shame. But I think many banks will publish more than 80 percent of defaulters especially the ones who are constant debtors,” he said.
Tokunbo Martins, director of banking supervision, in a circular posted on the CBN website lamented “the rising trend of non-performing loans,”
The statement said the new rule, effective from May 1, is to “ensure that the industry NPL ratio does not exceed the prudential limit of 5 per cent, and to improve the credit culture in the banking industry.”
Banks are expected to publish a list of debtors that fail to meet the deadline in at least three national newspapers each quarter.
Delinquent borrowers will get three months to start repayment, while borrowers whose loans remain non-performing after that period will be banned from Nigeria’s foreign-exchange and government bond markets.
Below is full text of circular
LETTER TO ALL BANKS AND DISCOUNT HOUSES
RECOVERY OF DELINQUENT CREDIT FACILITIES
The Central Bank of Nigeria has observed the rising trend of non-performing loans (NPL) in the industry.
In order to ensure that the industry NPL ratio does not exceed the prudential limit of 5%, and to improve the credit culture in the banking industry, banks and discount houses are directed to observe prudent credit underwriting and monitoring standards.
Furthermore, banks and discount houses are required with effect from May 1st 2015 to:
i. Give the delinquent debtors three months of grace to turn their accounts from non-performing to performing status.
ii. Publish the list of delinquent debtors that remain non-performing in at least three national daily newspapers quarterly (The delinquent debtors are those whose accounts have been classified lost and include the persons, entities, directors, subsidiaries and other related parties). The list must be sent to the CBN as soon as the publication is made.
Banks and Discount houses are also to note that delinquent debtors in the category described above will be blacklisted by the CBN and are therefore:
i. Banned from participating in the Nigerian foreign exchange market.
ii. Banned from participating in the Nigeria Government securities market.
Please be guided accordingly.

Buhari On A Private Visit To Jonathan

The president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, is presently holding a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential villa in Aso Rock, Abuja.

According to Premium Times report, Buhari arrived the villa at about 3p.m., April, 24, Friday.
President Jonathan, who spoke to newsmen after the meeting said  a date would be scheduled to take Mr. Buhari on a familiarisation tour of the Aso Rock presidential villa.

We will take a date when the president will come and I will show him round the state house but today is not for that. Today is to continue with our conversation. We don’t need to worry the President,” he said.
When questioned on how fruitful their conversion was, the president said: “You can see that we are smiling, it was a fruitful one”.

According to him, the discussions were “in the interest of the country”.
Asked to comment on the meeting, Mr. Buhari said “The president had said it all”.

This is the second of such meeting since Buhari won the March 28 presidential election.

The meeting is in continuation of ongoing arrangements between the outgoing government and the incoming government for a smooth transition as well as the inauguration.

Two transition committees set up by both the president and Mr. Buhari had also met twice as part of arrangements for a smooth handover of power on May 28.

Buhari emerged winner of the March 28 presidential election, defeating incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan and ending the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 16-year rule.

APC Presidency: I Will Be An Attack Dog - Muazu

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu has promised that he will become an attack dog as an opposition leader so as to give the All Progressives Congress (APC), a run for their money as they take over the reigns of power at the federal level.

Mu’azu made the declaration while answering questions from journalists in Umuahia, Abia State, after his visit to Governor Theodore Orji yesterday night,. He went on to promise that the PDP would give a tough opposition to APC from May 29 after the latter takes over power.

He said, “By the special grace of God, we will give them a run for their money; that I can assure you under my leadership despite that I am accused of not being an attack dog. They will understand it later. I will wait until such a time when God gives me the opportunity; then they will know whether or not I am an attack dog.”

Muazu also said the PDP would undergo rebranding under his leadership so as to be able to reclaim its lost mandate.

He said, “The PDP National Working Committee, under my supervision, will be able to rebrand the party, redirect the party, and ensure that the party takes up its national and state leadership position.

“The mistakes we have made individually and collectively will be analysed by a committee and pass to us for implementation to ensure success in subsequent elections.

“Unfortunately for them, the responsibility as to whether we succeed or fail, does not solely rest on the National Working Committee. However, I have repeatedly said it that success has too many fathers and brothers too. Failure has non. I have taken full and total responsibility for whatever has happened to the party now. I believe in God. And I also believe in destiny and I also believe that power and glory belong to the Almighty God.

“He gives to whom he wants when he wants. Therefore, he has taken it from us. We give thanks to him all the same today and in the future, and forever, we will remain thankful unto him. I assure you that we are under test by God and God will not let us fail. We will succeed. We will pass this test”.

Punch reports that Muazu had a meeting with Abia State governor, Chieg Theodore Orji, where he expressed concern over the manipulation of results in some quarters to rob PDP of victory in the Abia governorship poll but vowed that the party would vigorously resist such moves.

Orji thanked him for the visit, and said the visit would help ginger the morale of PDP members in the state. Muazu was accompanied on the visit by the PDP Deputy National Chairman, Uche Secondus, and National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.

Meanwhile, a former Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has revealed that he warned the party before it lost most seats in the just-concluded general elections.

PDP Eyes Senate Seat, As APC Senators Bicker
A report by Leadership suggests that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will present a candidate to vie for the office of the Senate president, even though the All Progressives Congress (APC) has majority in the 8th assembly.

The PDP has started plotting on the best candidate to field that will get votes from majority of senators. The APC got about 61 elected senators in the March 28 National Assembly election, while the PDP only had 49 senators elected in the election.

Senators George Akume from Benue State, Adamu Abdullahi from Nassarawa State and Bukola Saraki from Kwara State have all indicated their interest in the position amidst rumours that the APC has zoned the position to the North Central region.

The calculation of the PDP is that with several candidates emerging from the APC, the votes from the APC senators will be divided according to candidates they support, thereby reducing the number of votes for each candidate, while the PDP sole candidate will clinch the votes of all its members to retain the Senate president slot.

Some APC senators are already getting jittery over the PDP plans saying the APC must put its house in order to avoid losing the opportunity it has to control the Senate.
Meanwhile, senators from the North East have insisted that for the sake of justice and fair play, the APC leadership should zone the Senate presidency to the zone which delivered the second highest number of votes to the party after the North West.

In a related development, Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning, Senator Barnabas Gemade, has thrown his weight behind the candidature of Senator Akume
