Tiwa Savage's Husband Owing N45m Debt and Investigated by the EFCC

Tiwa Savage has revealed that Tee Billz lived an expensive, wild and sadly unaffordable lifestyle which has embarrassed her several times, with the EFCC now on his tail.

In more revelations made by Tiwa Savage, the singer has disclosed that  her husband had committed himself to a N45million debt which she has been running around to find the money to pay up.

In the interview Tiwa Savage also mentioned that the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and his debtors are on the hunt for him because of his N45m alleged debt.

"What set off all this was that he went to borrow 45 million from someone and he lost it. I just found out that EFCC was investigating a case against him, and my brother called me from London and confirmed it that TJ is in deep trouble, and that someone might hurt him, that I should be careful.
"In my frantic mode to try and suppress this situation I went to one of my big bros who can help.
"I have been searching for N45million so that they dont kill him, so that they EFCC does not carry him.
"What kind of man does that and says I am the one taking away his manhood?" she quizzed.

Tiwa further stated that his ostentacious lifestyle then made him start stealing from her by taking money for shows and not being open with her on the fees he had collected on her behalf, a situation which led to her firing him as her manager.

Twist of Fate! Boko Haram Kills 30 Fulani Herdsmen in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram members in the northeast reportedly murdered several Fulani herdsmen and probably made away with their cattle.

At least 30 ethnic Fulani herdsman were killed by Boko Haram militants in northern Nigerian last weekend when they raided the village of Alau in Borno state according to Bloomberg.
“One of the herdsmen escaped and confirmed to us that he is the only survivor,”
Amadu Kusuri, the northeast coordinator of the Fulani Miyetti Allah Association, said Thursday.

The Islamist insurgents also kidnapped women and children and stole livestock in the attack on April 24, Babangida Ali, the brother of one of those killed in Alau, said by phone.

While Nigeria says it’s making progress in the battle against Boko Haram, which has waged a violent seven-year campaign to impose its version of Islamic law on Africa’s most populous nation, the group continues to carry out massacres in remote areas and suicide bombings in towns and cities.

In the video, the Fulani herdsmen removed their masks, unveiled their real identity as Boko Haram fighters and declared war against Igbos and Yorubas boasting that their lands would soon be conquered territories.

The Dynax team took care of every little detail of the trip which included feeding, transportation, hotel reservation, room selection, and more. They obviously had a good rapport with the tour guide. “Visiting Israel for me was a great encounter. I had heard several stories and read a lot about Jerusalem, so I looked forward to a visit that will change my whole Christian experience. We were 58 women in total lead by Rev Mrs Funke Felix Adejumo. We had one person join us from Australia, three persons from the US and two from the UK. We flew into Israel from Tel Aviv.
Our tour guide was simply fantastic. We visited a lot of places which included the western wall also known as the Wailing Wall. Had the opportunity of visiting the house of Simon the tanner, the mount of olives, mount camel, the empty tomb of Jesus to mention but a few.
The boat cruise on the Sea of Galilee was an unforgettable experience. The Dead Sea was also a beautiful encounter.
We had opportunity to gather every evening to pray although we prayed at every site visited.
Israel indeed is a really a place to visit as the bible comes alive.
I also remember the baptism experience at the river Jordan. The crown of it all is the JP ceremony where everyone was decorated with lapel pins as Jerusalem pilgrims .The food also was fantastic”
…Rachel Kayode-Adele.

“My trip to Israel was indeed a dream come true for I had always wanted to visit the holy land. It brought the bible alive to me as I could easily relate to the stories since I am kinesthetic in nature (a feeler ). I came to understand why the fig tree was cursed and much more. The visit to every site was awesome especially at Simon the tanner's house... oh! I can't forget it was awesome.
The food and hospitality of the people was splendid! Especially on Sabbath (friday). It was like a big wedding or feast with all kinds of delicacies and drinks(you don't want to miss it).
I loved the language and picked some words like boker tov (good morning ) toda raba (thank you very much) and not to forget the famous shalom that means hello, welcome and goodbye. I can't forget the song that we were taught by our tour guide. My son even sings it now (the peace song) wow! I could go on and on but one needs to..... how do they say a taste of the pudding is in the eating LOL.
All of these experiences were made possible by Dynax travels n tours the organization was par excellence indeed I had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. Still smiling from the experience”

Polie IG Orders Arrest of Policeman Involved in the #EnuguMassacre

A police officer who is said to have aided the Fulani herdsmen as they slaughtered innocent residents in Enugu is now set to dance to the tune of his music.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, Wednesday, ordered the detention of a policeman, who allegedly collaborated with the Fulani herdsmen during the killing of residents of Nimbo community in Enugu State.

The IGP, who visited the tension soaked community alongside the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial zone, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, ordered that one Corporal Chukwu should be detained and investigated.

The villagers had informed him that the police officer, simply identified as Corporal Chukwu, was a known collaborator with the herdsmen.

Consequently, while addressing journalists, Arase said no policeman who collaborates with criminal elements to perpetrate crime would go unpunished, stressing that such person must be dismissed from the force.

#BuhariFulaniAlliance Trending as Nigerians Lament over 'Chanji'
Angry Nigerians has taken over Twitter with the hashtag #BuhariFulaniAlliance to lament on the excesses of the Fulani herdsmen and to blast the presidency of keeping quiet over the group's devilish acts.

It was widely reported online and social media yesterday that the Fulani herdsmen attacked communities in Enugu State, and by last night, influential PDP chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode confirmed that over a hundred people had been slaughtered by the deadly group.

This prompted Nigerians to take to Twitter to call out the President’s silence on the development.

Below are Nigerians' reaction on the trending topic #BuhariFulaniAlliance which we gathered from Twitter;

#FulaniHerdsmen! Where is Father Mbaka and His Voice of Change?

Father Mbaka who gallantly supported President Muhammadu Buhari during the presidential election is currently being called out over his silence concerning the onslaught of the Fulani herdsmen on the Igbos.

The first time I heard about Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka was through my mother. My mother was the head of the CWO in our archdiocese when we were younger. She headed the women group for 14 years (not very sure but it was quite long).

She was also a church dancer, since i come from an area where women are valued due to the fact that they can dance. Dancing could be a reason a man would marry you in my village. Not because you will make money for him while dancing but just so he can point at you from the crowd of dancers and say, "that is my wife over there". Weird but true.

My mother was good in attending church activities. She would want to drag my daddy with her but that one and his "Arobunagu" will never agree. I recall when the Pope came to Oba Anambra state and my mum insisted everyone must go, my daddy insisted he would watch the Pope on tv. It only took my mum trekking home from Oba airport to our house for her to know my daddy made a wise decision. To make matters worse, She did not even get to touch the Pope since the man was in a glass bullet proof four wheeled machine that looks like a toy car.

So that year, they said Father Ejike Mbaka was coming to Nkpor Anambra state. My mum insisted that everyone must go. He convinced my dad and we all went. When Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka entered, we were stunned by his size. This is because he has a thunderous voice but not a thunderous body. What he says pierces through your ears and reverberates. We were waohed by this Reverend Father with such talent.

When he led a team of prayer warriors to a town known as Ogidi to deal with one juju ( i do not know whether this story is true, people from Ogidi should confirm), I heard the story and i was thrilled. Then Okocha, the footballer showed up on his music video, they were both playing football and Mbaka defeated Okocha even though he had no football skill, all that drama made me fall in love with the Reverend.

Then he did another music video where he was catching bullets of assassins with the bible and rolling on the floor like a warrior, i fell in love with the man. Mbaka speaks on every issue, politics, fashion, banking, militancy, just mention it.He at one point gave a message of division of Nigeria because he believed the igbo are suffering and the Niger delta so called militants are being exploited.

During the tenure of Obasanjo, he asked his followers to point towards Aso rock and start shouting Holy Ghost Fire! The recorded message is out there in the market.
His last remarkable message was on the 2015 election where he urged Nigerians to vote against Goodluck because he is now Badluck.People did like he admonished. He was invited to Aso rock in a private jet and thanked for being a lone but loud voice.

Today, fulani herdsmen are killing and maiming people in Rev. Father Mbaka’s homeland and his voice has disappeared! So i want to ask, WHAT HAPPENED TO MBAKA’S VOICE?

Nnamdi Kanu Dragged to ICC(See Shocking Details)

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has been dragged to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the mass graves allegedly discovered by security operatives in Abia state. In a criminal complaint filed by a civil rights activist, Albert Ella, Kanu and the IPOB were accused of committing heinous crimes against Nigerians.
The Department of State Services had in a statement accused members of IPOB of killing and burying over fifty people in a shallow grave in Isuikwuato local government area of Abia state. The DSS also claimed that five out of the bodies exhumed from the grave were identified as Hausa-Fulani’s killed by IPOB members.
To this, Ella through his lawyer, Edward Omaga of the Graylaw Solicitors said records show that the fifty unidentified persons, whose dead bodies the DSS had exhumed but hidden for security reasons, were murdered by IPOB with the use of chemicals and other dangerous instruments against the Rome statute. Ella’s complaint which was dated April 13, and filed on April 19 at the ICC has also been acknowledged by Leigh Swigart, a senior trial attorney in the office of the prosecutor of the international court.

Ella in his claims said the unidentified victims were also suspected to be Hausa-Fulani people who are entitled to right to life as guaranteed under Chapter IV of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights and other international human rights instruments.

He said the victims deserve justice from the ICC urgently. Also Omaga said Ella’s complaint seeks to expose the divisive and gruesome activities of IPOB in recent times. It also urged the ICC to open investigation and prosecute Kanu and other members of the IPOB who claimed to be freedom fighters following the unwillingness of Nigerian courts to try them. Also, Wolfgang Bendler, a German based legal practitioner on the list of counsels at the ICC has been appointed to work full time on this case as international head of the legal team to be assisted by Mr. Omaga.
“We commiserate with families of those who lost their lives in the hands of IPOB and assure all well-meaning Nigerians that justice devoid of political undertone is tenable.
“The end will soon come for all the purveyors of evil and iniquity in this country. We are not asking those who had associated with IPOB in the hope of using intellect and due process to pursue self-determination to forget their quest.

Suspected Islamist Terrorists Arrested in Mali

Authorities in Mali said on Friday they had arrested a member of a group linked to al Qaeda that has claimed responsibility for attacks that killed dozens in Mali and neighbouring Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.

Fawaz Ould Ahmed was captured by security and intelligence services in Bamako on Thursday as he was preparing to carry out another attack, said security ministry spokesman Amadou Sangho.
"We found him with grenades and a small suitcase containing weapons. He was behind the attacks on the Radisson, the Hotel Nord Sud, the La Terrasse restaurant and the Hotel Byblos," he said.

He said Ould Ahmed was a member of al Mourabitoun, a militant group allied to al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).

Beginning with an attack on La Terrasse in Bamako in March last year that killed five people, the two groups have teamed up to target civilians at locations frequented by westerners.

Seventeen people died in the attack on the Hotel Byblos in the town of Sevare in August and 20 in the November raid on the luxury Radisson Blu in the capital.

Attacks on a restaurant in neighbouring Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou and a beach resort town in Ivory Coast in January and March of this year left dozens more dead.

There were no casualties in last month's attack on Bamako's Hotel Nord Sud, which serves as the headquarters of the European Union's military training mission in Mali.

Al Mourabitoun and AQIM claimed responsibility for all the attacks, but Sangho only linked Ould Ahmed to attacks inside Mali.

Islamist violence is on the rise across West Africa despite a 2013 French-led military intervention that sought to drive militants out of northern Mali, which they had seized a year earlier.

Before Ould Ahmed's capture, Malian officials had claimed to have arrested a number of suspected militants over the past month, who they say organised or carried out the assaults.

"(Ould Ahmed) could have even carried out an operation this Friday. So it's a big win for the DGSE (intelligence service) which has arrested five terrorist bosses in less than four weeks," an intelligence officer said, asking not to be named.

Some experts question the importance of the recent arrests. Contacted by Reuters, five academics who focus on Islamist militant groups in the region said they had never heard of Ould Ahmed.

Lagos CAN plans 3-day prayer for the nation

Lagos State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has urged Nigerians to be patient with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and give it the needed support to achieve its mandate.

The state chairman of CAN, Apostle Alexander Bamgbola made the appeal while addressing journalists at the Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Lagos on the asso-ciation’s planned special 3-day fasting and prayer for the nation which is scheduled for May 10-12.

Urging Nigerians to always pray for leaders in authority and support the government in fighting corruption to a standstill in the country, Bamgbola assured Niger-ians that within a short while, its challenges will be a thing of the past.

He added that Mr. President and his team are working tirelessly to make Nigeria a better place for all.Bamgbola also called for the resusci-tation of the Nigerian Inter-religious Council, NIREC, at the national level, stressing that it is aimed at promoting inter-faith harmony and unity in the country.

“Practically, all Nigerians are religious with majority being adherents of the Christian and Islamic faiths who have lived together in peace and harmony for over a century. Hence, it should be clear, that no political leader, can successfully rule a nation like Nigeria, without regular and continuous consultation with the religious leaders of the land. “The case of Lagos State is an incredible reference point because since NIREC was inaugurated in the state by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2006, it has played a very significant role in ensuring tranquility, peace and harm-ony in the state,” he argued.

The cleric used the occasion to warn political leaders that are using religion as a shield in committing havoc to desist immediately because it is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of the living God who abhors such attitude.

On the prayer and fasting programme, Bamgbola explained that all church denominations are expected to come together on the third day and pray for the nation to be guided by God.

He assured that the leadership of CAN would soon be changed at the national level since the incumbent would soon finish his tenure and every process towards this has been working without any rancour.

Fulani cows, Grazing Reserve Bill and the looming trouble

On April 18, 2016, Mr. Okonkwo Afamefuna wrote the following on his Facebook wall:

”I decided to read a copy of the National Grazing Reserve Bill and I was surprised at what I saw. The Bill creates a Council to be chaired by a Chairman to be appointed by the President. The Council shall have the power to take your land anywhere the land is located in the country and then pay you compensation. Your land, when taken, shall be assigned to herdsmen who shall use your land for grazing purposes. They shall bring cows to the land and you shall lose the land permanently to those Fulani cattlemen”
. This is the Sudan downloading right here in Nigeria.

On April 18, Mr. Gabriel Ogbonnaya wrote the following on his Facebook wall:

“I decided to read a copy of the National Grazing Reserve Bill and I was surprised at what I saw. The Bill creates a Commission to be chaired by a Chairman to be appointed by the President, to be confirmed by the Senate. The Commission shall have the power to take your land anywhere the land is located in the country and then pay you compensation. Your land, when taken, shall be assigned to herdsmen who shall use your land for grazing purposes. They shall bring cows to the land and you shall lose the land permanently to those cattlemen. If you feel that the Commission was not right to take your land, you can go to court but before you go to court, you must first of all notify the Federal Attorney General of your intention to sue the Commission. Apart from notifying, you must get the consent and authority of the Federal Attorney General before you can sue. So that means that if the Attorney General refuses to give his consent to the suit, you have lost your land forever to the herdsmen. And this law, when passed, shall apply to the whole country, so it means that your land in the village or anywhere is not safe. The National Grazing Reserve Commission would have the power to take away your land from you anytime they want and pay you whatever they want as compensation (even when you don’t want to sell, and remember that, for you to get compensation, you must have documents showing or proving ownership). So I think that we all in the South-West, South-South and South-East must rise up and reject this Bill. We must do all things to force our National Assembly members against passing that Bill into law. That Bill is a deliberate attempt to take our lands and hand the lands over to the Fulani cattlemen since it is only the Fulanis that rear cattle in Nigeria. That law, when passed, shall fulfil the directive of Uthman Dan Fodio and other northern leaders to take over other parts of Nigeria. I implore you to use all available means to implore your senator and Rep not to pass that law. That law will destroy Nigeria. All over the world, ranches are established and used to rear cattle. The farmers buy land and put their cattle there. There is no country where the land of the citizens are compulsorily acquired and given to others.

This is evil, and designed to favor the Fulanis where the President comes from. We must resist the passage of that Bill into law to save Nigeria, and to protect our future generations”. This is Yugoslavia and Rwanda unfolding right here in Nigeria.

On April 18, Mr. Duru Collins wrote the following on his Facebook wall:

“This National Grazing Reserve Bill, if passed into law, will just mark the beginning of apartheid in our country. When the government of Zimbabwe collected land from the white people who naturalised there, the whole world worked against President Robert Mugabe. Sanctions were stiffened against his regime even though the whites in Zimbabwe were not African by origin. In our country today, there are people that are not Nigerians by origin and these people are making law to take over our inheritance. This nation will burn once this law is passed”.
This is Lebanon and Zimbabwe downloading right here in Nigeria.

On April 19, Mr. Oyinemi Nicholas Endeley wrote the following on Facebook: “The National Grazing Reserve Bill is the ticket to kill us ALL down South. This is not the time to sit and watch evil triumph over good.

I have called the senator representing me and I have spoken common sense to him! He KNOWS what this is all about NOW.

Listen people of God, it’s time to get angry! You will come to understand how devilish Buhari’s APC government is the moment you realise they are talking about a Bill that will protect the Fulani militants who, according to the Global Terror Index, are ‘the 4th deadliest terrorist group’ in the world, and neglect tens of thousands of victims that have suffered gory attacks by these daredevils.

This government is gradually telling us their priorities and it’s clear the lives of the southerners are not their priority. THIS GOVERNMENT IS EVIL. The ploy is on. They want to send the Trojan horses to our walls. They want to start the war from our lands. They will fail. They can’t send their militants here in the guise of herdsmen. Those herdsmen don’t own those cows, the rich Fulanis do. And I know their plans. Subsequently I will tell you guys more, you will be shocked. But for now, please get on your phones and call those representing you. Tell them not to accept this Trojan horse. It will burn our region, it will kill our children’s future. Let idiots that are southerners keep supporting APC. They don’t care about you, they don’t. You will BURN if their plans work!”

This is colonial India (before she won her independence from the British and broke three ways into Pakistan, Bangladesh and India) downloading right here in Nigeria.

Finally in an article, titled, ‘’The Outlaws Of Islam’’ (Premium Times, April 15, 2016), I wrote the following: “And if they are still in any doubt about where all this is heading in the Nigerian context, they should consider the following: On December 30,1964, Mallam Bala Garba told the West African Pilot newspaper: ‘The conquest to the sea is now in sight. When our God-sent Ahmadu Bello said some years ago that our conquest will reach the sea shores of Nigeria, some idiots in the South were doubting its possibility. Today, have we not reached the sea? Lagos is reached. It remains Port-Harcourt. It must be conquered and taken’’.

This is an eloquent expression of radical Islam, with its pervasive use of violence as a tool of conquest and subjugation, in its purest and most obvious form.

Inspired and equipped with this Janjaweed philosophy and ethos, the whole of core northern Nigeria was conquered by Sheik Usman Dan Fodio through jihad.

Given the activities of Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen in our country today, it appears that some in our shores are still interested in continuing that jihad.

They wish to continue where Usman Dan Fodio stopped and they wish to ‘’dip the Koran in the Atlantic ocean’’.

Their latest attempt is the introduction and proposal of what is known as the National Grazing Reserve Bill which will give the Fulani herdsmen the right to claim other peoples land all over the country and which will empower them by law to create their own settlements and communities in the territory of others.

Brazilian grass

Worse still, under that law, the government will be compelled to fund those settlements and put all that they need in terms of infrastructure in place for them. That is why our Minister of Agriculture is now talking about importing Brazilian grass for the Fulani herdsmen and their cattle.

This subtle and exceptionally brilliant attempt to infiltrate and conquer by guile and assimilation reminds me of the frightful laws that were put in place in the old wild western prairies of 19th century America. Those laws gave the white settlers rights over the lands of the indigenous Red Indians and saw the Indians themselves subjected to genocide and ethnic cleansing and herded into barren reservations that were not fit for human habitation. It was in this way that the “wild west” was conquered and the once proud and noble war-like Indian tribes of the western prairies were subjugated and subdued.

Sadly our legislators in the National Assembly from the South and the Middle Belt simply do not appreciate and cannot comprehend the serious implications of what they are doing by supporting this legislation and neither will the consequences of their naivety and folly be suffered by their constituents until it is far too late.

If that law is ever passed and implemented, two years from that time, we will regret it deeply as a nation because it will result in nothing but conflict, chaos and strife between the Fulani herdsmen and settlers on the one hand and the local indigenous population on the other.

The Jos tragedy

The tragedy that unfolded in Jos, Plateau State between the indigenous Christian Beroms and the settler Muslim Fulani, for many years, is a graphic example of what will be replicated all over the South and the Middle Belt between the Fulani and the various local indigenous populations if that law is ever passed and implemented. As a matter of fact, it will be far worse than anything that Jos ever saw. The National Grazing Reserve Bill will not result in enhancing unity and peace but instead it will result in division, bloodshed, carnage and chaos”. My conclusion? This is Iraq, Syria and Libya unfolding right here in Nigeria.

When you create a conflict which has its roots in religion, ethnicity, land rights, the attempt to marginalize, dominate, subjugate and conquer others and the quest for liberation and freedom from slavery and bondage all mixed into one, you are toying with a conflagration that will not only be simply horrendous and that will not only affect the whole of Africa but will also last for the next 50 years.

Let me be clear: The greatest evil that we are confronted with in Nigeria today is the National Grazing Reserve Bill. It is more evil than anything that we have ever seen before. It is more insidious and dangerous than anything that we can possibly imagine.

It will do more harm to us than Boko Haram and the Nigerian civil war put together and it will result in open war. I am speaking prophetically and I am saying this under the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. We must stop this cantankerous and divisive Bill from seeing the light of the day and being made into law. There are some things that are bigger, greater and more important than partisan politics and this is one of them.

We must all stand together regardless of our political affiliation and stop this evil Trojan horse from being smuggled into our ranks by those that seek to subjugate and conquer us. We must resist those that seek to strip us of our self-respect, self-worth, liberty and dignity.

We must stand up against those that seek to destroy us and rob us of our faith and our ancestral lands. We must say ‘’never” to those that seek to belittle and enslave us and that are hell bent on reducing us to nothing even within our own shores.

May God help our people and our country and may He deliver us from evil.

Not 'Technically Defeated'! Suspected Boko Haram militants on horseback kill 10 in Yobe

Suspected Boko Haram militants on horseback were said to have attacked Zango Village in Gulani Local Government Area of the Yobe State, killing over 10 people, including returnee Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The attack and casualty were confirmed by the vigilante, resident in the village.

According to the vigilante member, who pleaded anonymity, the attackers set houses ablaze and shot indiscriminately at people trying to escape the raging flames. The source said: “The gunmen come around 1:55am and started burning houses. Those, who tried to escape, were chased on horse back and were shot dead.”

Another vigilante, who escaped the attack, said that similar attacks took place in the neighbouring villages, where over 30 villagers were killed by Boko Haram.

“Days back, the militants sacked a cluster of villages around that areas, including Gurum and Dokshi, where three people were killed and many others injured. Those injured are currently receiving treatment at Damaturu Specialist hospital,” the source said.

The IDPs resettlement committee headed by the state Deputy Governor, Eng. Abubakar Aliyu, has assured the returnees of their safety, saying that the government would do everything possible to provide them with needed amenities and protect their lives and property.

Also, the Deputy Governor has distributed 1200 bags of rice, 400 cartons of vegetable oil, 200 cartons of soap, 20 bags of oil, 50 wrappers and 50 other clothing materials to the residents.

However, Alhaji Muktari Ibn Ali Gangarau, pleaded with the state government to help them rebuild their clinics, schools and water supply to the people of the areas, saying some of the people were in tears after they returned to their ghost town which they left almost three years ago.

Nigerians Deceived Again! Buhari’s directive on salary payment impossible – AGF

After what appeared to be good news for Nigeria’s Federal Government workers, it is not hunky-dory after all as Ahmed Idris, Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that federal workers be paid on the 25th of every month was not possible, because there was no cash to pay on that date every month.

This would come as a surprise to Federal Government workers as it was for Idris, who disclosed this on Wednesday to journalists in Abuja.

He said, paying salary on the 25th of every month would “be given a test, I believe, by this month.”
“There is a standing instruction of Mr. President to pay salary on or before the 24th or 25th of every month and we will try as much as possible to comply and to abide by that.

“We are taking a step further to make a provision whereby we can accommodate salary payments even before FAAC.

“We will go to seek for necessary approval of our political masters to make sure that at least salary and other statutory payments are made even before FAAC.

“Because we can project how much they are and therefore we can prepare and hit the ground running to make them realisable and actualised.

“Even where we delay FAAC, we can still pay salary,” he said.

However, in a swift about-face, a statement by Mrs Kene Offie, Deputy Director of Press, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, said: “There is an instruction from Mr. President that workers be paid on or before 24 or 25, but compliance has been hampered by the limited resources available to government, which can only be determined after the monthly FAAC (Federation Account Allocation Committee) meeting.”

The Federal Government has failed to meet its salary obligations, blaming the situation on falling oil prices at the international market.

And the AGF gave vent to this view after last week’s FAAC meeting when he opined that, “Nigeria is practically making about 30 to 40 per cent of what it used to make by way of revenue from oil and that has affected inflow generally.

“These inflows are what the federal, state and local governments receive to service the economy.
“It is when we receive these resources and sit at the end of the month for FAAC that the resources are shared among the three tiers of government,” he said.

Buhari has no Excuse! 2.7 trillion naira ($13.57 billion) already in our TSA

The account status of the Treasury Single Account has been revealed by a constituted authority to the press.

The Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, on Thursday stated that the Nigerian government has collected more than 2.7 trillion naira ($13.57 billion) in its Treasury Single Account (TSA), Reuters reports.

Recently, Idris said that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) was also working towards ensuring that all revenue accruable to the government was recovered especially in the current era of diversification from crude oil. He added that FG is also working to weed out ghost workers on its payroll.

“We are now going ahead to use Bank Verification Number (BVN) recently introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to clarify and to ascertain names of those benefitting salary from the Federal Government," he said.

Last year, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the merger of state accounts into one account at the central bank to reduce corruption and a practice where the government borrowed back its own funds from lenders at an interest.

According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident, said Ogeleke was heading towards Ogume from Kwale in his Nissan Pathfinder jeep when he was abducted at gun point.

Kalu said four men of Fulani extraction armed with guns and sticks emerged from a nearby bush, forced the vehicle to a stop, seized the 54 years old Ogeleke before taking him into the bush.

Kalu said the Police in the Kwale division, vigilante team members, men of Dragon 25 police patrol team and reinforcement from nearby divisions were already searching the vast bush.

According to her, the Fulani leader in Kwale, Alhaji Mudi, has also been informed “to assist in the search as several Fulani camps are located therein.”

Vanguard reports that the kidnappers have demanded  N5million as ransom for the victim’s release.

#BuhariAndCorruption: CBN Recruitment Scandal Dents 'Saint' Buhari

In a highly secretive process that benefitted relatives of President Muhammadu Buhari and ministers in his cabinet, the process of Central Bank of Nigeria illegally hiring at least 396 more than the number approved has been exposed.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, illegally hired at least 396 more than the number approved by the Federal Character Commission, in a highly secretive process that benefitted relatives of President Muhammadu Buhari and ministers in his cabinet, Premium Times can confirm today.

Although the Commission granted waiver for 513 people to be employed without advertisement as required by law, it was learnt that CBN raised the number to 909.

Many beneficiaries of the crooked process were family members of senior government officials, serving and past.

The acting FCC chairman, Shettima Abba, said in a response to enquiry that the waiver granted the CBN was for the recruitment of specific number employees.

Controversy over the recruitment scandal, first exposed by the news website, Sahara Reporters, has compelled the Character Commission to drastically review the number of employment opportunities for which government agencies could be granted waiver.

While large organisations now have a limit of 100, smaller ones have 50.

Henceforth, the Commission said there would no longer be waivers in respect of chief executives, directors and other top management positions.

Besides, its state offices have been empowered to monitor the recruitment of junior staff of agencies with specific guidelines that candidates were sourced from the catchment areas of the organisations.

The spokesperson of the Commission, Abdullahi Idris, also told Premium Times that following a request by CBN in April 2013, waiver was approved for the recruitment of 275 persons as enterprise risk managers, medical consultants, reserve managers, payment systems configuration, digital media/engagement, international trade and macro prudential and stress testing specialists.

Following the inability of the bank to conclude the recruitment within three months before the expiration of the waiver, Mr. Idris said a fresh request for revalidation was submitted in July 2015 to allow the completion of the process.

He said approval for the revalidation of the previous waiver was issued in September 2015, with a demand to forward to the FCC the character balancing index of the shortlisted candidates, indicating their states of origin, local government, sex, posts and qualification.

Mr. Idris said the Commission in its letter to confirm the issuance of certificate of compliance to the bank had warned against the substitution, replacement and alteration of the names of those issued with letters of appointment without its consent.

Besides, he said the Commission equally demanded that the updated staff nominal roll of the bank be forwarded to it within three months.

Although the nominal roll was still being expected, to confirm the conclusion of the recruitment exercise, the Commission said the CBN in December 2015 came with another request for revalidation of waiver to recruit another 238 specialists into various positions in the bank.

The bank said the fresh set of employees were to support the implementation of some key government initiatives, namely the treasury single account, TSA, increased financial institutions supervision and monitoring of FOREX utilization and other new policy guidelines.

But, the acting chairman of FCC who said the waiver granted CBN was for a specific number, expressed shock that the final figure over-shot what was approved by 398.

“All actions of the Commission in our engagement with MDA’s have in no way granted approval, encouraged or advised the CBN or any MDA to violate, disregard, or circumvent the federal character procedure for recruitment into the federal public service,” the spokesperson of the Commission said.

After several weeks’ wait for clarifications on the exact number recruited as well as submission of the updated nominal roll, the commission said CBN’s response last week was that “the number quoted was not conclusive” as it was still harmonizing the figures from its branches nationwide.

No CBN official was ready to comment further on the issue when our reporter visited the bank on Thursday.

The acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isaac Okoroafor, said he was not in a position to comment any further on the issue than he did initially.

When the allegation was first reported, Mr. Okoroafor had insisted that the bank did nothing wrong, as it got waiver from the FCC to conduct “targeted recruitment of specialists/experts without advertising.”

Regardless, another senior official of the bank, who asked that his name should not be mentioned, as he was not authorised to speak officially on the issue, told our reporter that the management had barred all staff from commenting on the issue in view of the fact that the matter was currently before the court.

“There is no issue about the recruitment. All records are there that the bank was given waiver to proceed with the exercise without advertisement. Whatever was the so called extra were junior staff from the catchment areas where the CBN branches are located across the country, which does not require advertisement before they are recruited,” the official explained.

The Federal Character Commission Regulation Act, 2008, requires that recruitments into government ministries, departments and agencies must reflect national character spread to ensure that qualified candidates from all sections of the country get equal opportunity of being recruited.

Besides, the law also requires that the recruitment must follow the due process of advertisement in at least two national newspapers giving qualified Nigerians a minimum of six weeks to apply.

But, the CBN recruitment violated those conditions by not reflecting federal character.

Most beneficiaries of the exercise were alleged to be relations of politicians and top government officials, including President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew; Minister of Internal Affairs, Abdulrahman Danbazzau’s son, and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu’s son.

Others included Inspector-General Police, IGP Solomon Arase’s son; former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s daughter, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’aba’s daughter.

No more Excuses! Crude Prices Hit $46 a Barrel Record, Year High

President Muhammadu Buhari has received the needed economic boost as the price of oil in the international market records improvement in price.

Crude oil prices hit a year-record high of $46 a barrel yesterday, giving Nigeria a buffer of $8 over its $38 a barrel 2016 budget benchmark, a feat, which it has not attained since January, according to Today.ng

Specifically, Brent crude rose by 77 cents from a session low this morning to hit $46 a barrel by 7.50am UK time, while the US, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were up by 19 cents from $43.62 to $44.37 a barrel.

Crude oil prices have been rising since beginning of the week despite the failure of talks at the weekend between the world’s largest oil producing countries that were intended to tackle oversupply by freezing production.

Hope that the global crude oil prices will continue to rise was further boosted yesterday, as the United States (U.S.) onshore crude oil production in the lower 48 states is expected to decline from an average of 7.41 million barrels per day (bpd) to 6.46 million bpd in 2016 and to 5.76 million bpd in 2017.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), which attributed the decline to response to continued low oil prices, noted that increased production from the Federal Gulf of Mexico (GOM) is not enough to offset those declines, with total projected U.S. production falling from 9.43 million bpd in 2015 to 8.04 million bpd in 2017.

The EIA stated that the sharp decline in oil prices since the fourth quarter of 2014 has had a significant effect on drilling in the United States.

It stated: “The number of active onshore drilling rigs in the Lower 48 states fell 78 per cent (from 1,876 to 412) between the weeks ending on October 31, 2014, and April 15, 2016. The decline in active rigs and well completions is projected to result in month-over-month onshore oil production declines of 120,000 bpd through September 2016.

“Market expectations of uncertainty in the crude oil price outlook continue to be high, as reflected in the current values of futures and options contracts. In EIA’s April Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), the 95 per cent confidence interval for market expectations for prices in December 2017 is relatively wide, with upper and lower limits of $20 per barrel (b) and $100/b, respectively. EIA’s April STEO forecasts Brent crude oil prices averaging $35/b in 2016 and $41/b in 2017, with the December 2017 price averaging $45/b”
, it added.

Goodnews! Chad Intercepts ISIS Weapons Going To Boko Haram

The alliance between ISIS and Boko Haram has been further confirmed as large arsenal of guns been transported from abroad to the Boko Haram sect was intercepted recently.

Chad has intercepted a large cache of different types of weapons sent from ISIS affiliate in Libya and going to Boko Haram insurgents in the Lake Chad region.

The weapons were seized two weeks ago, underscoring the increasing ties between Boko Haram and the Islamic State, which now has a foothold, from its northern base of Sirte, south of Libya, next door to Chad.

Brig. Gen. Donald Bolduc, commander of US special operations in Africa made this revelation in Ndjamena today as US ambassador to the United Nations; Samantha Power came for a visit.

The Boko Haram-IS nexus may pose the greatest immediate threat to the Lake Chad region, Bolduc said.

Brig. Gen. Donald Bolduc, right, accompanied by U.S. State Department Principal Deputy Secretary for African Affairs Bruce Wharton, speaks to members of the media outside the U.S. Embassy in Chad in N’Djamena, Chad.

Although Boko Haram pledged its allegiance to the Islamic State last year, the operational connection has been unclear.

Bolduc said the groups clearly share “tactics, techniques, and procedures,” from the way they conduct complex ambushes and set improvised explosive devices like roadside bombs, to how they undertake high-profile attacks on hotels.

“You can, I think, draw a conclusion,”
Bolduc told reporters. The implication was that the weapons were sent by the Islamic State, which has established a foothold along Libya’s Mediterranean coast, near the city of Sirte.

Given the range of threats here, he said the “Lake Chad Basin region is Ground Zero” in the fight against extremism in Africa.

U.S. officials warned of deepening links between the Islamic State and Boko Haram and prodded Chad’s ruling strongman to introduce reforms for the sake of long-term stability.

The visit to Chad by America’s U.N. envoy, Samantha Power, and top U.S. military officials highlights the country’s precarious position dealing with a multitude of hostile militant groups and unstable neighboring governments. It also underscores the impoverished, land-locked country’s growing geopolitical value.

Boko Haram has launched attacks on Chad’s territory from its base in Nigeria to the southwest. The Islamic State and al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb lurk in chaotic and lawless Libya to the north. To the east is Sudan’s Darfur region; to the south is the Central African Republic, still recovering from years of interethnic conflict.

Ongoing Fierce Battle: Boko Haram vs Nigerian Army

Military troops of the Nigerian Army and Boko Haram fighters are currently engaged in a fierce gun battle in Borno state, North East, Nigeria.

The spokesperson for the Army, Sani Usman, has announced in a post on his Facebook page on Monday morning that military troops of the Nigerian Army and Boko Haram fighters are currently engaged in a fierce gun battle in Borno state, North East, Nigeria.

"Please be informed that our troops are currently engaged in fierce battle with Boko Haram terrorists at Kareto, Northern Borno State," Usman, a colonel, said, promising to provide details later.

It can be recalled that Nigerian troops have in recent months succeeded in pushing out the terror group from most of its bases across the restive north-east and on Sunday, the Army announced the seizure of a large cache of arms and ammunitions after taking over Boko Haram’s underground armoury.

The Nigerian Army chief, Tukur Buratai, had on Sunday, alongside prominent politicians from Borno supervised the reopening of a major highway linking Borno and neighbouring Yobe State which was blocked by Boko Haram for over three years.

Residents of Buni Yadi, a town held captive by Boko Haram also returned to their town enmasse on Sunday following its liberation by Nigerian troops.
