In Nigerian politics, incredible things
are not same as impossible things. Things that never happen in any clime or
culture happen here in Nigeria; no wonder we are the ‘giants of Africa’. So don’t
be shocked to hear that T.A. Orji could rule Abia for the next eight years,
even when there is no such provision in the law.
Apart from the December 8, 2014
governorship primaries of the ruling party, PDP that was reportedly bereft of
internal democracy, which eventually produced one of T.A. Orji’s puppet as the
party’s flag bearer for this year’s election, Abia Redemption Group, has observed, as reported through its
national coordinator, Chigozie Agbakwo, that,
“98 percent of candidates that are returned
for State House of Assembly in Abia State are either T.A. Orji’s Pas,
Commissioners or relations, including his son (popularly known as ‘Ikuku’), who
is being prepared to take over the governorship position of the state by proxy,
after the 2015 election”
The calculation is simple: If Okezie
wins; Ikuku is the Governor by proxy; and if Ikuku is on seat; T.A. Orji has
extended his rule for another 8 years. Do I say, Congrats to the longest
serving governor in Nigeria history!
