Political Twist! Federal High Court Dismisses Forgery Charges Against Ikpeazu

A judge of the Federal High Court sitting in Imo State has dismissed tax forgery suit filed against Okezie Ikpeazu.

A Federal High Court in Owerri, Imo State, has dismissed forgery charges against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State brought by one of the governorship aspirants in the December 2014 governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Friday Nwosu.

The court held that Ikpeazu did not forge any tax documents as alleged, adding that he remains governor.

One of the governorship aspirants in the December 2014 governorship primaries of the PDP, Mr. Friday Nwosu had filed a tax forgery suit against Ikpeazu. Nwosu had prayed the court to declare him the party’s rightful candidate and governor of the state.

All eyes will however be on the Federal High Court in Abuja as it delivers judgement on the application ‎filed by the embattled Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, seeking a stay of execution of the judgment of the court which removed him from office on June 27.

If Ikpeazu loses, it will be yet another political battle in favour of Mr. Uche Ogah who will be sworn in as the governor of Abia State.

The hearing will take place before Justice Okon Abang today.
